Tango Therapy performance, Museum of Tohmajärvi 21
Tango Therapy performance, Museum of Tohmajärvi 21'Tango Therapy' is a performance in which artist Heidi Kilpeläinen sings to one person at a time, sitting on opposite chairs, while rest of the audience listens and follows the performance. The participant is invited to sing back to Heidi in any language.Anyone from the audience is welcome to sit on the chair as it becomes free. It is an intimate and personal performance of songs, mainly of Finnish tangos, with no technology or amplification. The focus in this performance is on the human presence and eye contact. Understanding Finnish language is not necessary, it is the melody and the sentiment which communicate beyond the boundaries of language.

Life of Daniel Cajanus / The Finnish Giant, Hippolyte Gallery 2017Performance of The Life story of Daniel Cajanus, 'The Finnish Giant' (1703 - 1749) at House & Garden Exhibition, Helsinki 2017. The performance begins with a video presentation of a Skype recording of artist's father who plays a famous Dutch hymn on the trumpet. Juhana Cajanus - like Daniel Cajanus, also an ancestor of the artist - wrote new lyrics to the hymn, in 1683 making this hymn 'one of the hits of it's time'. After the video introduction Kilpeläinen tells the story of Daniel Cajanus using a map of Europe which is taped on the floor. Daniel Cajanus story ends 'in' Cajanus's giant coffin, also taped onto the floor. Other works at the exhibition include: Daniel Cajanus Poster Installation, video works, paintings, works on paper, embroidery, sculpture, photography, floor installation and performance.
